What is Kinesio
Kinesio Tex Tape is a modality treatment based on the body's own natural healing process. The major effects of Kinesio taping are:
-
correcting muscle function
-
improving circulation of blood and lymph
-
relieving pain,
-
reducing edema and
-
repositioning the subluxation joints.
Kinesio Tex Tape is latex free of extremely high quality, FDA approved and patented. It was specifically designed by Dr. Kenzo Kase who also wrote many of the teaching manuals.
Kinesio Tex Tape was designed to be worn on the skin for an extended period of time (3-4 days) without irritation, as well as during strenuous exercise or hydrotherapy. The adhesive is heat activated, and will not leave any residue when removed.
The tape has an elasticity of 140%, which matches the same basic elasticity of the skin thereby allowing Kinesio tape to work with your body without any sensation that there is tape on. The joint or muscle group will be supported, without adversely affecting the natural range of motion.
Kinesio Athletic Tape is frequently used for clinical applications such as shin splints, plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, rotator cuff injuries, back pain and other musculoskeletal problems.
Individuals who have used kinesio tex tape, including athletes and anyone who has pain, has reported easing of the pain and a feeling of stability of the joint.
Since the tape is heat activated, rub the tape firmly in place after it is applied. Do not use a hair dryer or any heat source if the tape becomes wet.
